Announcing the winners of the 33rd INCITE Awards

World renowned Western Australian biotechnologist, Associate Professor Dr Parwinder Kaur, has been named Achiever of the Year at the 33rd INCITE Awards.

Along with Dr Kaur winning the evening's supreme award, this year's cohort of INCITE honorary award winners include BrainChip founder and AI visionary Peter Van Der Made, not-for-profit technology skills group Switched on Seniors and Dr. Mal Bryce WA Tech Company of the Year Radlink Communications.

The four honorary award winners are joined by 15 winners and merits in the project awards, exemplifying the thriving diversity of technology innovation taking place in the State.

Held Friday, 19 July at The Westin Perth, the annual INCITE Awards are notable for being Western Australia's only pathway to enter the national iAwards and the international Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA).

Awards organiser, the Western Australian IT and Telecommunications Alliance (WAITTA), says all 15 winners and merits will progress to the national innovation awards, the iAwards, to compete against industry peers from every Australian state and territory.

Each competitor will be supported by WAITTA and INCITE Awards coaches to take on the iAwards, including support from new WAITTA partner, not-for-profit Mentor it Forward. The new partnership with Mentor it Forward was announced at Friday's gala ceremony, including news that all 40 nominees - not just finalists or winners - will be offered a placement with Mentor it Forward for free.

"On behalf of WAITTA, congratulations to everyone who entered in this year's INCITE Awards," WAITTA President Con Polkinghorne says. "From geospatial innovations to solving widespread chronic ear infections, to the pseudo-FitBit for the family pet - this year's INCITE finalists show that Western Australia is home to superb talent, the brightest minds and people wanting to make real, positive change in our world.
"This year's awards are a testament to the dynamic and innovative spirit that characterises Western Australia's technology sector. With finalists and winners hailing from a wide range of industries, the event underscored the region's status as a hub for cutting-edge technology and entrepreneurial excellence.
"Pia Turcinov AM said it best on the night: WA is a great place to call home for innovators of all walks of life, wanting to make a difference."
