In 2019, the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations (RFSDWO) won the 29th INCITE Awards’ Mal Bryce Tech Company of the Year Award.

We are now really proud to be welcoming RFDSWO back to the INCITE Awards, as a supporting Partner for the 29th Lateral INCITE Awards.

Without a doubt many of us would know and heard about the good works of the Royal Flying Doctors. Their brand is one of the most well known and loved around Australia.

In this post, we took five to get to know more about the behind the scenes and important operations that is the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations (RFSDWO).

Tell us briefly about RFDSWO and the work the organisation does in supporting our community members

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is on stand-by 24/7 for emergency aeromedical and healthcare services to everyone who lives, works or travels in regional WA. We operate 18 aircraft with specialised crews of pilots, engineers, doctors, nurses and logisticians across five bases in Jandakot, Broome, Port Hedland, Meekatharra and Kalgoorlie.

What has been one of the best ICT / Tech Project / milestones you & your team have seen, been involved in or managed?

Commissioning two PC-24 Rio Tinto LifeFlight jets is a world-first achievement for RFDS. The first-of-type jets allow our crews to go further and faster across the 2.5 million km2 that make up WA. The medical fit-out and regulatory guidelines for the jets were developed by us in WA, with positive impacts for aeromedicine globally.

Why does the RFDSWO support the INCITE Awards?
We share a common goal to grow and develop the ICT industry in WA. We believe creating a culture that encourages investment in technology, innovation and a healthy appetite for risk has great benefits for RFDS and every sector in our community.
